Inequalities Unit Algebra 1 Curriculum

This Algebra 1 unit teaches linear inequalities, with everything from the pre-assessment through the unit exam. Students begin by solving and graphing multi-step inequalities, then progress to compound inequalities, absolute value inequalities, and linear inequalities in two variables.

Throughout the unit, students represent solution sets on number lines and coordinate planes. They also analyze errors, explain their reasoning, and distinguish between special cases such as no solution and infinitely many solutions.

How it works

Lessons are written for 30 to 45 minute class periods. The included pacing guide maps the unit across approximately 11 instructional days.

Every lesson follows the same structure, so students know the routine, and they get multiple opportunities for practice, review, and assessment. The activities reinforce each major concept. Prep is minimal.

I use it for Algebra 1, and it also fits intervention or math support classes.
