Cooperative Learning Math Games

With this bundle of cooperative learning math games, students in grades 5 to 8 practice 8 different concepts while playing a game. It is a way to practice math and add a little competition to your classroom.

How it works

1. Students are given a math problem that they each must solve.
2. The person in the “hot seat” is in the back of the group and must solve the problem on a white board.
3. They pass up their answer, and each group member must agree before the board can be passed all the way to the front.

Skills covered

There are 12 questions per topic, with one exception noted below.

• Fraction Operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
• Decimal Operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with up to three operations)
• Order of Operations (up to 5 operations; no decimals, fractions or integers)
• Solving One and Two Step Equations (no integers or fractions)
• Solving Multi-Step Equations (up to four operations)
• Addition and Subtraction of Integers (up to four operations)
• Multiplication and Division of Integers (up to four operations)
• Area of Basic and Complex Shapes (includes squares, rectangles, triangles, circles and half circles; only 10 cards)
