Subtraction of Whole Numbers Collaborative Activity – 4th Grade Math Activity

Subtraction War is a partner card game for 4th grade multi-digit subtraction practice. Students pair up, draw number cards, and solve the subtraction problem. Whoever has the highest difference wins the round.

No regrouping is required. The game builds place value understanding, subtraction fluency, and mental math skills.

What’s included

• Printable number cards, clearly labeled as minuend (“top”) cards or subtrahend (“bottom”) cards
• Recording sheet, where students track their rounds
• Teacher instructions and differentiation tips for modifying the game for different skill levels

How to use it
