Operations with Whole Numbers and Decimals 6th Grade Math Intervention Unit

A 6th grade math intervention unit on operations with whole numbers and decimals, ready to use for skill gaps in GCF, LCM, multi-digit division, decimal operations and word problems. It gives you a simple way to identify exactly where students are struggling, provide targeted instruction and practice, and monitor their progress.

It is meant for small-group math intervention, RTI/MTSS, remediation, tutoring or additional practice.

• Error analysis. Students analyze incorrect work, identify the mistake and determine the correct solution. You see the misconceptions behind student answers, as well as whether an answer is right or wrong.
• Progress tracking. Record student performance across the intervention activities to monitor growth and determine next steps.

Pre and post assessments

Start with the pre-assessment to identify individual skill gaps. After intervention, give the post-assessment to measure student growth. Both print and Google Forms versions of the assessments are included.

Intervention planning tools

Use the included planning sheets to organize:

The sheets are especially helpful when intervention is provided by multiple adults, including classroom teachers, interventionists, assistants, tutors or other support staff.

How to use it

You don’t have to use the unit from beginning to end. Assess first, identify the gaps, and assign only the skills each student needs. Instead of giving every student more practice on every skill, you focus intervention time where each student needs support.
