Geometric Transformations Cube Math Activity

In this hands-on 8th grade math activity, students make cubes and use them to practice geometric transformations, manipulating shapes and points on a coordinate plane. It works well for math stations and cooperative learning.

How it works

Students can make one cube or multiple cubes. They practice individual transformations with the individual cubes. For multiple transformations, they use a combination of the individual cubes or one of the two “all transformations” cubes.

• Individual transformation cubes
• Two “all transformations” cubes
• Three coordinate plane options: one blank, for a starting shape given by the teacher, and two pre-populated with starting shapes
• Three spinners that give students more details for rotations and translations

Good to know

Due to the nature of this product, an answer key is not included. I suggest having students check one another, or using the activity as a whole group resource so that all students end up with the same final answer.
