Fractional Unit Rate Reciprocal Learning Activity

In this cooperative learning activity, 7th and 8th grade students practice finding the unit rate with fractional ratios. Partners take turns solving the problems and coaching one another.

What’s included

The resource provides three options for differentiation by offering:

• Two versions of the questions
• A hint card
• A complete re-teaching card

With these options, students of all abilities can complete the same activity. An editable template is also included, so you can write your own problems.

How it works

Reciprocal learning happens when students work in pairs. One solves problems and the other acts as coach. When the problem solver gets stuck, you help the coach, and the coach in turn helps their partner. It gives students cooperative learning, skill practice and confidence built through peer teaching.
