Estimating Sums and Differences Task Cards – 4th Grade Math Activity

A set of 18 task cards for 4th grade math on estimating sums and differences. Students round the numbers to the nearest thousand, ten thousand or hundred thousand before either adding or subtracting.

The cards build number sense and mental math, and they push students to think about estimation as a way to check whether an answer to a real-world math problem is reasonable.

How to use it

There is no prep. Print the cards and go. They work for math stations, centers, partner work, exit tickets, review sessions, whole class activities or early finishers.
