$3.00

Error analysis activity for 4th grade division word problems. Students compare three student solutions, pick the correct one, and explain why.

Division Word Problem Dilemmas is a 4th grade error analysis activity for division word problems. Students read a whole number division word problem set in a real-world context, evaluate three different student solutions, identify who is correct, and justify their reasoning in complete sentences.

Solving is only part of the work. Students also have to think critically, interpret the remainder correctly for the context, and explain their thinking.

What’s included

  • 5 multi-step, real-world word problems
  • 3 sample student solutions per problem
  • Student response pages
  • Differentiation ideas and group discussion options
  • Suggestions for partner work, stations, or reusable task card formats

On the response pages, students:

  • Identify the correct student answer
  • Explain why that solution is correct
  • Analyze one student’s mistake
