Data Displays Review Activity – Box and Whisker Plots Coloring Worksheet

On this data displays coloring worksheet, 6th and 7th grade students practice interpreting box and whisker plots. The activity is self checking.

What students need to know

Students need an understanding of the data points (minimum, 1st quartile, median, 3rd quartile, maximum) and of the interquartile range. They also need to know that each quartile represents 25% of the data.

How to use it

Give it as a quick assessment, assign it for homework, or keep it for the kids to do after a test.

Coloring it digitally

Here are two ways to handle the coloring when students are not working on a printed copy:

• You can upload any resource to Google Classroom and your students can access it. If they are on an iPad or other handheld device, they have the option to mark up the resource using just their finger. They have tools that look like pens, markers and highlighters they can use to color.
• Students who are computer (not device) based can pull up the PDF, do the assignment on their own paper and take a photo to send in as their work. If they can print, that’s even better.
