In reply to <a href="https://beyondtheworksheet.com/time-savers-in-upper-grades/#comment-7386">Jill</a>.

Since HW is only 1% of their grade i only take a grade for it IF 90% if them got a passing grade. I’m not gonna have something that’s practice hurt their grade. But if i was taking a grade i just open my grade book. Call the students names and input the trade right then. Hit submit and I’m done.

How do you grade and/or check homework? Between the warmup, reviewing homework, lesson and a small amount of time to practice the new homework, I am frequently running out of time. I am also overwhelmed with keeping grades for homework. It never fails that 3-5 students per class period didn't do it and I have to check it at a later time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I LOVE the idea of having material needed posted at the start of each class. I somewhat do that, but I don't include glue and scissors. I've had bins numbered by group, and when it's time to cut or glue something (or use a protractor or compass), I just send one person from each group to get the supply box. However, I now see that I could have one person retrieve that box when they walk in the room, which will not only save time but also distraction later in the period. Thank you!! :)
