Thanks for sharing all of that! You won't regret following your heart OR being with your kids. Mine are 16 and 19 and it just seems like yesterday when I was going on field trips and volunteering in the classrooms. When they were both in elementary school, I started subbing at their school. It was really fun for us to all go to school together and I even got to be my daughter's teacher while her teacher was out on maternity leave. Both my kids still remember our time together in elementary school and me being their sub sometimes.
Family first and follow your heart! I'm happy for you! Congrats!
Laura
Just came across your post, and GOOD FOR YOU! This is my first year doing TpT full time and I am already terrified just thinking about the day I may have to return. Reading your post has given me a glimpse into my own future. So, thank you for sharing this hard decision you had to make. It makes me feel better about not wanted to go back either :)

You did the best thing for everybody involved. You are reaching more students and more teachers and doing better things for math education doing what you do with TpT. And your own kids and husband have a mom and wife who gets to be "with" them, not just physically but emotionally as well. I remember the day that I knew I needed to leave the classroom. When a chance came to do half time instructional coaching, the decision was easy. I've never regretted it. When we listen to our hearts, they usually tell us the right thing to do.

I am sure that was a hard decision. I am glad that you were able to follow your heart. Plus, your kids are only young once! ONCE! I look at my high schooler and think... you were just 5, right? Gosh, time flies. Enjoy them while you can! Good for you!

I bet that was a real shocker for you, to find out the classroom wasn't where you wanted to be. Good for you, for taking that bold step and correcting your direction! There will always be another classroom, but your kids are only little once. I can just imagine the peace you must be feeling right now. I was able to stay home with my kids and it was the best.
Pam
Desktop Learning Adventures

Yay for putting family first! You will still be making a difference in the life of many students around the world with your resources. Can't beat being able to make a difference AND have time to make memories with your children :)

I think you made the right decision! I have moved to working part time and have come to the conclusion that there really is no such thing as a part time teaching job! The thoughts of school and your kids there can easily consume your day!

Tara
The Math Maniac
Congratulations on following your heart! You will NEVER regret this- I promise! You can never get those moments back with your children. I taught for 4 years- then stayed home to raise my kids (and actually homeschool them! ) and then went back 7 years ago. I would not trade one second of staying home and the memories I have with my children for anything in the world! :) I am so happy for you- because you did what was right for you and your family- not for everyone else! Have a wonderful year!
Carolyn
Kindergarten: Holding Hands and Sticking Together
